The emergence of star defensive tackle Grady Jarrett has taken some of the attention away from Takkarist McKinley on the edge. But there is no denying the sort of impact he can make if left unaccounted for.

McKinley has missed the last two games with a groin injury, but all signs point to the former first-round pick making a return to the lineup at home to the Carolina Panthers. This is a substantial boost for Atlanta’s defensive front and one that is sure to bring about an increase in pressure on Teddy Bridgewater if his offensive line doesn’t live up to their end of the bargain.

Fortunately for the Panthers, they have someone at the right tackle spot who can limit McKinley’s ability to get into the backfield. Taylor Moton is one of the best in the business without a shadow of a doubt after a stunning start to the 2020 season and the lineman has coped with some formidable threats with ease through the first four games.

Much will depend on McKinley’s health, as he will need to be at his best to get the better of Moton. He has notched 17.5 sacks since entering the league and if Carolina becomes complacent due to his lack of activity over the last fortnight, it could very well come back to haunt them.
