Neville Hewitt – New York Jets

One player that would warrant serious consideration is Neville Hewitt, who has been one of the rare bright spots during a dismal 2020 season so far for the New York Jets. The former Marshall standout has plenty of likable traits to call upon and would undoubtedly represent an upgrade over Tahir Whitehead.

Hewitt is a sideline-to-sideline presence that can make important plays in the running game thanks to his strong tackling. He is also athletic enough to make a difference in coverage, which is something Whitehead has struggled with throughout his career.

The Jets are going nowhere fast and collecting extra draft capital at this juncture is something that might well benefit their long-term prospects of getting back to some sort of relevancy in the coming years. Hewitt is a player who does have some value and the organization might decide to get something in return for the player rather than run the risk of losing him in free agency next spring.

Hewitt has recorded 39 combined tackles, two passes defended, 21 solo tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and a respectable 67.5 grade from Pro Football Focus. Providing the asking price isn’t too steep, then this is an option worth considering for the Carolina Panthers.
