Carolina Panthers vs Bears: 5 questions from behind enemy lines

How far do you think Chicago’s defense can take them?

This team is currently not a Super Bowl contender.

The team is however a playoff contender and should the Chicago Bears find a way to improve on offense with Nick Foles under center now, then anything could happen – even the Super Bowl. The defense needs to stay away from key injuries to Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, Kyle Fuller, Eddie Jackson, and Jaylon Johnson to have any chance at winning playoff games. Should the defense lose one or two of those key players, the Bears could find themselves on the outside looking in for the playoffs.

What areas do you think the Bears can exploit at the Panthers?

Shockingly, the Chicago Bears will need to, as Lovie Smith used to say, get off the bus running.

Bears fans are concerned about the run defense, but Carolina’s is much worse. The Panthers are 29th in Defensive DVOA versus the run and has given up the third-most points to running backs from a statistical standpoint.

These two teams are actually evenly matched in almost every other area. Neither allows quarterbacks or wide receivers to exploit them. This is why the running game will be most important for the Bears and hopefully the team can find a way to overcome the loss of James Daniels.

How do you think the game will go and do you have a prediction?

This is going to be another close game for the Chicago Bears. I do not see a high-scoring outcome though.

As I previously mentioned, both teams are evenly matched in almost all areas. Whichever team makes the least amount of mistakes will likely win the game. Teddy Bridgewater will be the key for the Carolina Panthers as he’s looked great in the last three weeks.

I think Bridgewater comes back to earth this week versus a tough Bears defense. Although I do not envision Nick Foles to play great, and I think Bridgewater may even play slightly better in this game, I do see the Bears winning as long as Christian McCaffrey is still out versus the Bears.

Prediction: Bears 24 Panthers 20
