The Carolina Panthers will win in a blowout.

On the surface, this is probably the boldest prediction of the season. However, a closer look at all the circumstances makes this scenario very attainable for the Carolina Panthers.

The Chicago Bears are a better team by their record and just beat the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. They also have a defense that can slow down what the Panthers are best at, passing, and an offense that can exploit what Carolina is worst at, which is run defense.

Even if the Panthers win, betting odds and many NFL analysts predict that this game will be low scoring and close. All that considered, there are a few things the Panthers considerably have in their favor to break this game open.

First, the Panthers will be at home in front of about 7,000 fans, a nice advantage in a pandemic year, and something which shouldn’t be overlooked.

Second, history is on Carolina’s side. Teddy Bridgewater is 4-1 in his career against the Bears and the Panthers are 3-1 vs. Chicago in Charlotte.

Under head coach Matt Nagy, Chicago is 1-4 following a Thursday night game or a bye week.

In a “prove it” week for the Panthers, they’ll have to rely on more than home-field advantage and history to win. By dictating the pace on offense and preventing Nick Foles and Chicago’s running backs from getting hot, Carolina can win, widen the score gap, and hopefully, earn some respect.
