The Carolina Panthers have some big names missing from their lineup against the Chicago Bears, but who is cleared to play?

We are a matter of minutes away from the Carolina Panthers taking to the gridiron once again for their Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears. Matt Rhule’s men are looking for a fourth straight victory that could possibly get them to a 4-2 record and see expectations increase further regarding the unlikeliest of playoff berths.

The Carolina Panthers have just released their actives/inactive list for the contest. They will already be without the services of defensive tackle Kawann Short, who is done for the season after requiring shoulder injury. And second-round pass-rusher Yetur Gross-Matos is also likely to spend a considerable period on the sidelines with a high ankle sprain that has seen him go to the reserve/injured list.

Christian McCaffrey wasn’t ready for a return to the 53-man roster despite being eligible to return from IR this week. The Panthers are being rightfully cautious with their prized possession, which has been made easier by the outstanding performances of Mike Davis in recent weeks.

There were plenty of question marks surrounding prominent roster members heading into this crunch contest. Stud defensive end Brian Burns is good to go despite taking a big hit in their win at the Falcons last weekend. But the status of Curtis Samuel and No. 1 cornerback Donte Jackson was less clear.

Let’s take a look at who didn’t manage to prove their fitness in time:

Losing Samuel is a significant blow. There is plenty of other talent that needs to step-up in his place. But his ability to make big plays is something that the Panthers might sorely miss.
