57. 16. 87. Final. 23

Which members of the Carolina Panthers turned in standout displays in their 23-16 loss to the Chicago Bears at Bank of America Stadium?

It proved to be a frustrating afternoon all round for the Carolina Panthers. Their home defeat to the Chicago Bears was a game riddled with individual mistakes that eventually brought an end to their winning run. And there is much work to do between now and when they take the field at the Super Bowl hopeful New Orleans Saints next weekend.

This has tempered expectations surrounding the Carolina Panthers if nothing else. It was easy for the team’s fanbase to get a little bit ahead of themselves after rolling off three straight. But some perspective about where Matt Rhule’s side actually is in terms of building a postseason contender should be considered following every win or loss in the coming months.

Chicago wasn’t great, but their vaunted defense eventually got them over the line down the stretch. This was another one that got away from the Panthers thanks to some costly mistakes, which is another harsh learning curve for a young roster of which little was expected coming into the campaign.

A third loss of the season does represent a step back, and it would be one of the NFL’s shocks of the season if Carolina managed to win at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in Week 7, especially with the Saints coming off their bye.

There will be some steep challenges upcoming for this group to overcome and those who are not pulling their weight need to raise their game in no uncertain terms. Let’s take a look at four Panthers players who showed out despite not coming away with a victory against the Bears.
