4 Panthers players who showed out vs. the Bears in Week 6
By Dean Jones
Rasul Douglas – Carolina Panthers CB
If Robby Anderson is the signing of the season for the Carolina Panthers, then Rasul Douglas is a close second. The cornerback turned in another assured display in Sunday’s loss to the Bears, which further extended his exceptional form through six weeks of the campaign.
Bringing Douglas to the organization was an inspired move by the front office. Given the struggles being endured in the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary at the present time, it is a real head-scratcher that the veteran wasn’t good enough to make their 53-man roster.
Their loss is Carolina’s gain.
Douglas was given plenty of responsibility with Donte Jackson clearly struggling throughout. And although Allen Robinson did have a couple of big plays here and there, the Pro Bowler was limited overall thanks to some outstanding coverage from the cornerback.
Douglas also made a couple of important stops in the fourth quarter to give his side a fighting chance. But their offense was unable to come through in the clutch.
This should not detract from Douglas’ individual contribution throughout the game, which was once again ultra-consistent and leaves even more reasons to be encouraged about his long-term future with the franchise.
