Charlie Kolar – Iowa State

Don’t let Charlie Kolar’s slender frame fool you. He is a powerful tight end that has the sort of build to get even better at the next level if he puts in the necessary work.

Kolar’s outstanding production at Iowa State has already made scouts sit up and take notice. There is a significant amount of potential where the player is concerned and is well worth a mid-round selection at this juncture.

He boasts a superb catch radius that has been a nightmare to cover at the college level. Kolar has 968 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns from 74 receptions so far and the best could be yet to come once he finally figures out how best to use his exciting skill set.

The prospect does appear to be a little raw. Kolar will struggle to get off man coverage consistently, but the way he has adjusted his body movements to counteract this has been an encouraging sign, to say the least.

Kolar is never going to blow you away with explosive plays, but neither did Greg Olsen during his time with the Carolina Panthers.

What the prospect does provide is an assured catching presence over the middle that can assist in short-yardage situations and in the red zone, two elements that seemingly walked out of Carolina once Olsen and the organization went their separate ways.
