It hasn’t been the easiest of starts for the Chargers, one of the teams that the Carolina Panthers have beaten this season. Their roster has been decimated by injuries to key figures that have left their chances of making the postseason in tatters.

Anthony Lynn is a highly respected coach who conducted himself impeccably this offseason. There is a chance he gets something of a reprieve given their injury problems. But with the Justin Herbert era now underway much earlier than expected, this might be a good time for someone else to come in and work with the No. 6 overall pick.

This would undoubtedly be harsh on Lynn, but when has the NFL ever been a forgiving or fair place?

Appointing Joe Brady would give Herbert a strong offensive mind during a critical period of his development. It’s all well and good performing at a high level when you are something of a surprise. But the more film teams get on the former Oregon standout, the harder it’s going to be.

The allure of Herbert, a defense that has playmakers, and a fantastic SoFi Stadium to coach is bound to be tempting for Brady and it would be hard for the Carolina Panthers to keep him around in this scenario.
