Carolina Panthers Awards: Jeremy Chinn – Defensive Player of the Game

One splash play gives the defensive player of the game a talking point, while the Carolina Panthers’ defense as a whole had very few positive moments.

In the intro, I said the Panthers lacked splash plays Sunday afternoon, and they did except for one interception Jeremy Chinn, whose play against the Bears proved why he’s becoming a star in Carolina.

The Chinn interception came during a crucial moment when Mike Davis fumbled the play before, which gave the Bears a chance to run away with the game. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they failed to make the most out of this outstanding opportunity and eventually paid the price.

Chinn not only came away with an interception, but he played well throughout the game with two passes defended along with a big stop on third down to prevent Jimmy Graham from moving the chains.

Locking down Graham is huge as the tight end has had a slight bounce-back year of sorts, which is another strong indicator as to the talent Chinn possesses.

Overall, the defense lacked some enthusiasm on Sunday. And the only player to give them inspiration was Chinn.

Even though the defense didn’t show much to get fans excited, the same doesn’t apply to Chinn, who has everything going for him and is a star in the making.
