Joey Slye – Carolina Panthers K

Joey Slye had a big day for the Carolina Panthers and netted ten fantasy points, which was the fourth time he’s hit double-digits this season. The kicker converted his lone extra-point opportunity and made field goals from 20, 21, and 48 yards away. He did miss a 54-yarder, but that was only his second this season.

Fun fact: Slye currently ranks seventh in overall fantasy points among kickers. His position is one spot below former Panthers kicker Graham Gano and five spots above Harrison Butker.

Carolina should have an easier outing when it comes to scoring touchdowns this week, which may relegate Slye to PAT usage only. You can also expect Matt Rhule to once again put emphasis on red-zone efficiency. When the Panthers had a bad game in this area against the Chargers, Slye only netted seven fantasy points in the following matchup against Arizona.

With all the inexperience and injuries on the Panthers defense this season, their ranking of 11th overall and 13th in points allowed is nothing short of a miracle. Unfortunately, Carolina is horrible as a fantasy defense.

The Panthers have been solid as of late at keeping the score low, what they haven’t been so great at is getting both sacks and turnovers consistently. Carolina’s defense and special teams only netted two fantasy points against the Bears and have only earned more than three points twice this season.

Huge sit here. No defense has earned more than three fantasy points against the Saints this season and there’s nothing that indicates the Panthers will break that trend.
