Which members of the Carolina Panthers could find themselves benched with another poor showing in Week 7 at the New Orleans Saints?

It has been a season full of ups and downs for the Carolina Panthers so far. There has been some bad and plenty of good through six games, which sees them at 3-3 ahead of their pivotal NFC South showdown at the New Orleans Saints.

This is probably above where most expected the Carolina Panthers to be at this juncture. They decimated their roster during the offseason and their brand-new coaching staff didn’t get the normal preparation period due to COVID-19 measures, so to be sitting with a .500 record can be considered a small step in the right direction.

That might change in the coming weeks, especially when one considers the strength of schedule and prominent roster members dropping like flies through injury or ending up on the reserve/COVID-19 list. However, it will be up to head coach Matt Rhule and the rest of his staff to continue improving their level of performance with every passing game in a bid to speed up their rebuild into a postseason contender down the line.

The Saints are there already and appear to be in win-now mode during what could be Drew Brees’ final season under center. They already have two losses through five games before their bye week, but Sean Payton could be set to welcome back All-Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas for their game against the Panthers.

Some players might be entering the last chance saloon in Carolina regarding their starting roles. Let’s take a look at four individuals who could find themselves on the chopping block with another poor display.
