Carolina Panthers at Saints: Best bets

The New Orleans Saints are hugely favored to get one over on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. They are coming off their bye week, boast plenty of talent, and will also be playing in front of some fans for the first time after threatening to move their home games to LSU’s Tiger Stadium, which forced the city mayor to go back on his original decision not to allow supporter into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Playing the underdog is something the Panthers have done well so far this season. They were competitive in losses to the Raiders and Buccaneers, but their performance against the Bears was lackluster and substantial improvements will be needed.

Matt Rhule’s men are between 7-7.5-point underdogs, depending on what betting firm you look at. While it’s unrealistic to expect Carolina to achieve success against such a formidable adversary at this stage of their development, they might just be able to keep it close despite missing some key players through injury.

It won’t be easy, not by any stretch of the imagination. But if the Panthers can get off on the front foot then there is every chance they can cover the spread (+7.5), at the very least.

This is a game that might also see plenty of points. Both defenses have questions to answer and betting the over (51) seems like the best way to go.
