Quinnen Williams – DT

It seems to be open season for anyone wishing to make a trade with the New York Jets. The organization appears in clear rebuild mode another of a big offseason in 2021, which might also see them at the head of the queue for Clemson’s star quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Whether Lawrence opts out of entering the draft in favor of his final season at the Tigers given the state of the Jets currently is a massive talking point that is only going to get bigger in the coming months. The Carolina Panthers might look to take advantage of the team’s desire to gain draft capital by making a move for Quinnen Williams.

The former No. 3 overall pick has been the shining beacon of hope for the Jets’ defense in 2020 so far. There is no denying the skills that Williams brings to the table, but a change of scenery might be just what the player needs to propel his career to new heights.

Williams has the potential to be a wrecking machine on the interior. This is an area of need for the Panthers after Kawann Short’s miserable recent luck with injuries continued with season-ending shoulder surgery.

Depending on what the Jets want for Williams, it is a move Carolina should contemplate. Pairing the Alabama product with No. 7 pick Derrick Brown on the interior would give them a dominant defensive anchor for the next decade.
