Efe Obada – Carolina Panthers DL

The Carolina Panthers need to take advantage of the Saints’ inability to successfully block interior pass-rushers. This is something that was evident during their playoff loss to the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and the same cracks have begun to show this season.

They might be missing Pro Bowler Kawann Short for the rest of the campaign after the defensive tackle underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. But Efe Obada might be the difference-maker the Panthers are looking for in this area.

Starting option Zach Kerr can also get after the quarterback, but Obada’s size, strength, and engine might see some additional time on the field on third downs or other obvious passing situations.

The player hasn’t exactly been at his best this season so far. Obada has struggled to make any sort of impression on a defensive front that is starting to show signs of life. However, it’s hard not to look at his physical attributes and argue he couldn’t make an impression in New Orleans.

Obada has five pressures and four quarterback hits despite being on the field for just 32 percent of the Panthers’ defensive snaps. This has the scope to be a real statement game for him, but it vital the Nigerian-born star makes the most of the chances that come his way.
