Marshon Lattimore – CB

The Saints have shown some vulnerability throughout their secondary through their first five games of the season. But Marshon Lattimore is someone the Carolina Panthers need to account for at all times.

Lattimore is an outstanding cover cornerback who has the rare ability to come up with big plays in crucial situations. Things might not have gone according to plan for the player so far this season, but the Panthers should ignore his ability at their peril.

Nobody will know more about Lattimore’s threat than Teddy Bridgewater. The quarterback came up against the former first-round pick out of Ohio State plenty during practice last season and this sort of insight is going to be crucial as Carolina looks to pull off one of the shocks of the campaign this weekend.

The likes of Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore are going to be pivotal to any success that comes Carolina’s way. Lattimore should line up in front of both depending on who is influencing the game more. But a couple of big plays early on might see the momentum swing in their direction, with the Saints giving up 237.2 yards-per-game through the air this season.

How the Panthers fare in the passing game will ultimately decide the contest. They’ve got some nice production from their defensive unit of late, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see Lattimore increase his level of productivity following the bye.
