Seth Roberts – Carolina Panthers WR

Seth Roberts has been a relative afterthought in the Carolina Panthers’ passing game so far this season. The free-agent signing is due to have a breakout performance at some stage and who’s to say it won’t come at their NFC South rival in Week 7.

There is a lot to like about the sort of skills Roberts brings to the table. He has the necessary blend of size and speed to do some real damage. But with plenty of mouths to feed in Carolina’s passing attack, the former Baltimore Raven is on the outside looking in.

Roberts has managed to accumulate four catches from six targets for 31 receiving yards through six games. But the wideout hasn’t had a ball thrown his way over the last two contests and his chances of a more prominent role would be further diminished if Curtis Samuel is fit enough to take his place back in the lineup.

The Saints haven’t lived up to their billing in the secondary this season. They are giving up big plays consistently and this represents a solid chance for the Panthers if offensive coordinator Joe Brady can implement some element of surprise against his former mentor, Sean Payton.

One way to do this is to get Roberts more involved. And the player offers something a little bit different that might catch New Orleans off guard should the opportunity arise.
