5 players the Panthers missed most at the Saints in Week 7

Kawann Short – Carolina Panthers DT
A stated previously, the Carolina Panthers found it extremely difficult to generate any sort of pressure from their defensive line interior. But perhaps more telling was their lack of efficiency plugging the gaps in running situations, which remains an ongoing concern for Phil Snow.
Kawann Short would have helped in no uncertain terms. The veteran Pro Bowler has probably played his last game for the Panthers after being forced to have season-ending surgery on his shoulder. But this was the first time his presence was missed significantly.
The veteran not only provides a dual-threat on running or passing downs. But his ability to take some attention off No. 7 overall pick Derrick Brown really helped the rookie during their brief time together on the field.
The former Auburn standout will now have to cope with being the focal point of attention for interior protection schemes. Although Brown dealt well with this in college, the NFL is a completely different ball game.
Having Short at the Saints could have made all the difference. He had some incredible games against New Orleans over the years and if he never plays another down for the Panthers, the player can look back on his career with a tremendous amount of pride.
