Carolina Panthers: Week 7 awards in loss at the Saints
Carolina Panthers Week 7 Awards: Teddy Bridgewater – MVP
Two weeks in a row, the Panthers showed their need for Christian McCaffrey in the rushing attack and put the strain of winning the game on quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Last week, Bridgewater could not handle the pressure without McCaffrey, throwing two interceptions and posting his lowest passer rating of the season. This week, the quarterback kept the Panthers in the game while the ground game struggled and had his best passer rating of the season, 128.3.
Bridgewater threw for over 250 yards with two touchdowns and with zero interceptions. Quite the bounceback game for the sixth year player who struggled to find his groove last week against the Bears.
He kept the Panthers in the game countless times, coming up clutch during critical moments to keep drives going and especially connected with fourth-year wideout Curtis Samuel numerous times on third-downs.
Last week, Bridgewater failed to keep drives going as he threw an interception on third down on the Panthers’ first drive and an interception on his final play vs. the Bears. The quarterback seemed to forget last week’s struggles completely, and it showed as he garners the most valuable award this week.
