It proved to be a frustrating evening for the Carolina Panthers on the national stage. Their loss at home to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football wasn’t exactly what Matt Rhule was looking for heading into a difficult fortnight and sees them sitting at 3-5 midway through the season.

This was another close game that got away from the Carolina Panthers. But their level of performance wasn’t what we have become accustomed to seeing from this progressive roster since the campaign began.

If the Panthers were hoping for some respite, then think again.

They go to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 before hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who both looked primed for a deep postseason run once again.

This has the scope to leave Carolina at 3-7 just two games shy of their bye week, which would obviously leave more questions than answers regarding just how long this rebuild is going to take.
