Carolina Panthers Awards: Jeremy Chinn – Underrated Player of the Game

It might be hard to consider the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month in October underrated at this point, but Jeremy Chinn still finds himself underrated by some.

The conversation is turning in Chinn’s favor, though, as it seems like there’s nothing the player can’t do at this point. He completed the Carolina Panthers’ lone fourth-down conversion on the night off of a fake punt on fourth-and-9, running for 28 yards to pick up the first down.

Unlike all the other fourth-down calls, Chinn’s play was executed to perfection even though it was gutsy. This helped continue the drive once again as the offense failed to get in a rhythm, finding themselves ready to punt the ball.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chinn led the team in six solo tackles and total tackles at 10. He also managed to register one of five quarterback hits by the defense. The second-round pick won’t be on the list of underrated players much longer thanks to the former Southern Illinois standout’s ability to show out in big moments in games.

Let’s just hope Chinn continues to make impact plays as it is something the Panthers’ defense desperately needs due to their glaring problems elsewhere that are costing them in big moments.
