2021 NFL Draft: Panthers land stud TE in 32-team first round mock
By Dean Jones
27. Aidan Hutchinson – DE (Michigan)
The Jets fixed their quarterback issue by taking Trevor Lawrence first overall, and in Aidan Hutchinson they bolster a pass-rush that has bee nothing short of inept this season. His high-motor is matched by an explosiveness that really stands out on film.
28. Rashod Bateman – WR (Minnesota)
If the Ravens are intent on making Lamar Jackson more of a pocket passer, then the quarterback needs another primary target to make this possible. Rashod Bateman is coming off a 1,219 yard season and recorded nine catches for 101 receiving yards in his first game to further enhance his stock.
29. Quincy Roche – DE (Miami)
Tennessee’s defense has come on leaps and bounds, but they could use a dominant edge rushers to generate more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Quincy Roche might be a little rough around the edges, but he has a similar explosiveness to what the Carolina Panthers got when they took Brian Burns in the first round back in 2019.
30. Jackson Carman – OT (Clemson)
There doesn’t appear to be many holes on the Kansas City Chiefs, which gives them the luxury of picking the best player available in this spot. Jackson Carman has been a dominant blindside protector for Trevor Lawrence and he has the potential to do the same in the pros for Patrick Mahomes over time.
31. Walker Little – OT (Stanford)
Stanford’s program hasn’t had many first rounders to shout about since the Carolina Panthers selected Christian McCaffrey at No. 8 overall in 2017. But Walker Little comes with enormous upside and might be able to increase the longevity of Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the process.
32. Darius Stills – DT (West Virginia)
Th Steelers have a dominant defense that has played a leading role in their sensational start to the season. If they could bolster their interior pass-rush with someone like Darius Stills, then look out.
