25. 44. 17. 87. Final

The biggest Carolina Panthers disappointments in Week 8.

It was a night to forget for the Carolina Panthers, to put it mildly. Their 25-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons wasn’t exactly the sort of impression Matt Rhule’s men wanted to leave on the national stage and there appear to be some cracks showing on both sides of the ball at a crucial time in their development.

This is something that needs to be rectified at the earliest possible opportunity. Little will be expected of the Carolina Panthers during their next two games, so this might be a good chance for head coach Matt Rhule to experiment in pursuit of turning around their recent slump.

It’s important to keep the bigger picture in mind regarding the Panthers and their current predicament. Losing so many key pieces during the offseason was always going to come with its share of complications. But the struggles that became prevalent during the previous campaign are once again starting to rear their ugly heads.

They’ve been competitive against some quality opposition, at least for the most part. But going into a tough road game with the Kansas City Chiefs on the back of their worst performance of the campaign is hardly ideal.

Carolina was missing some key pieces and the fact of the matter is that this roster just doesn’t have the right sort of depth to cope at this juncture. Trying hard will only get you so far in the NFL, but the more film opposing teams get on the Panthers, the more difficult it’s going to be.

Let’s take a look at four big disappointments that emerged from Carolina’s fifth loss of the season.
