Trade deadline prediction for the Carolina Panthers

It’s hard to envisage a scenario where the Carolina Panthers are desperate to make a move before the trade deadline. It is a free hit for head coach Matt Rhule this season and the more he sees of the options currently available, the better position he’ll be in during the offseason to form a concise plan to progress even further next year.

That being said, it wouldn’t hurt their chances one but if they bring in somebody that fits into Carolina’s style of play and can benefit the team in the long run, then it might just come with an additional move just in time.

Giving up draft picks is not something that the Panthers would want to do in their current predicament. This is an organization that needs one or maybe even two strong recruiting classes in the coming years to really get themselves back into contention. So any player arriving would need to be worth the risk.

There is also a flipside to this coin.

Gaining additional capital for players who might not even be with the organization for too much longer might also be smart. Just how many would interest other teams is up for debate, but it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see the Panthers hang fire with very little to play for but pride during the second half of the campaign.
