The key Carolina Panthers matchups to watch at the Chiefs in Week 9.

To say the Carolina Panthers face a daunting challenge this weekend would be something of an understatement. Matt Rhule’s men will look to avoid a fourth-straight loss at the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been sensational once again during 2020 so far in pursuit of retaining their Super Bowl crown.

The Carolina Panthers are heavy underdogs for the clash, which is to be expected. Kansas City is a formidable adversary who seems to be hitting their stride at the right time and in Patrick Mahomes, they have arguably the most talented player in football.

Going to Arrowhead Stadium is difficult at the best of times. But considering the different directions both organizations seem to be going in, the magnitude of the task awaiting Carolina’s young roster is substantial.

One positive they can bring into the contest is that they’ve been competitive for the most part against some top teams this season. Carolina’s 3-5 record might look a little different had they come through in clutch situations, but the Chiefs are a completely different proposition to anything the Panthers have faced so far.

Winning individual battles is going to be crucial for any success that comes their way. Let’s take a look at four key matchups that will go a long way to determining the overall outcome.
