Carolina Panthers midseason awards for the 2020 campaign

Jeremy Chinn – Carolina Panthers OLB
Derrick Brown has shown flashes of potential, but the impact made by Jeremy Chinn has been nothing short of phenomenal. The second-round pick has been a revelation after winning the starting spot at outside linebacker opposite Shaq Thompson, which is a role he has thrived in so far.
There was plenty to like about Chinn’s athletic traits coming into the league. But few could have predicted how much of an indispensable member of the roster he’s become in such a short space of time.
Chinn has flown around the field and is always around the ball. His ability in coverage is coming on with every passing game and it won’t be long before superstardom beckons if he continues to develop going forward.
Considering that Chinn had no experience playing outside linebacker before, his level of production has been superb. He is carrying the likes of Shaq Thompson and Tahir Whitehead when, in all honesty, it should be the other way around. And his consistency was further reflected in winning the Defensive Rookie of the Month Award for October.
The player has currently amassed 67 combined tackles, 38 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, two quarterback hits, five passes defended, three pressures, and a 54.6 grade from Pro Football Focus. His 10 missed tackles need to come down as his career goes on and if he can do this, then the sky is the limit.
