Which Carolina Panthers players need to step up at the Chiefs?

The Carolina Panthers face their sternest test of the 2020 season so far when they travel to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. It would be a major shock if Matt Rhule’s men could come away from Arrowhead Stadium with a victory, especially considering they are in the midst of a three-game losing run that puts them at 3-5.

This sort of game is a challenging proposition at the best of times. The Carolina Panthers are expected to get star running back Christian McCaffrey back after a six-week absence, which will help. But any unlikely success that comes their way will have to be a collective effort.

Kansas City is riding on the crest of a wave, to put it mildly. They’ve backed up last season’s Super Bowl triumph with a sensational first half of the campaign that sees them primed for another deep postseason run.

Andy Reid is blessed with an embarrassment of riches on offense. The likes of Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and first-round pick Clyde Edwards Helaire have all played leading roles, with wide receiver Sammy Watkins also in contention to play.

However, there is one man above all who makes the Chiefs tick. Patrick Mahomes is the new face of the NFL and has all-time great written all over him if he continues this upward curve in the coming years.

Let’s take a look at four Panthers players who need to step up at Arrowhead Stadium.
