3 bold predictions in Week 9 for the Carolina Panthers at the Chiefs
D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson will score at least one touchdown each.
I’m making this bold prediction because the Carolina Panthers desperately need it.
Carolina ranks 25th in the NFL in points per game and through the first half of the season, Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore are technically the league’s top receiving duo. They’ve combined for 84 catches and 1,310 yards, but only four touchdowns.
Even third receiver Curtis Samuel only has one receiving touchdown this year. Christian McCaffrey or not, the lack of production has been frustrating but here’s the opportunity for Carolina to get back on track.
If offensive coordinator Joe Brady is reading this, here’s my three-word advice: throw deep early.
Teddy Bridgewater is getting too attached to throwing the ball in front of the first down marker instead of beyond it. As a New York Jet Anderson’s brand was “deep-threat”, but if you don’t throw the ball deep, there’s no threat.
Much of the attention will rightfully go to the defending Super Bowl champions and their high-powered offense. But Carolina should feel confident about their offensive prowess.
Together, Anderson, Moore, McCaffrey, Samuel, and Mike Davis are capable of giving any defense significant problems. Take chances, spread the ball around, and for goodness sake let’s score some touchdowns.
