4 most important Panthers players at the Chiefs in Week 9
By Dean Jones
Donte Jackson – Carolina Panthers CB
The Chiefs boast a devastating passing attack who can score at will. One only has to look at their playoff comebacks last season to see just how many points they can score in such a short space of time and if the Carolina Panthers are not up for the challenge, it is going to be a long afternoon.
This has to be a collective effort, of that there is little doubt. But cornerback Donte Jackson is one of the more important players when it comes to somehow slowing down this irresistible force.
The former second-round pick has played well this season, where he has elevated to the team’s No.1 cornerback option. Jackson is dealing with a toe injury that has hampered his level of impact and if the player suffers the same complications at Arrowhead Stadium, it might make all the difference.
Jackson is set to do battle with Tyreek Hill, which is going to be a clash between two of the NFL’s quickest players. It would be a surprise if the Chiefs didn’t test out the LSU product’s health early and just how well he comes in the face of a dynamic playmaker is going to go a long way to determining the overall outcome of the game.
The Panthers do have Rasul Douglas back after the free-agent signing missed one contest on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This is another big plus against an offense that is averaging 410.5 yards-per-game through the first eight weeks.
