KANSAS CITY CHIEFS. Scouting Report. DT. DERRICKNNADI. 91. player. 124. Pick Analysis

Derrick Nnadi – DT

One player on the Chiefs who doesn’t get nearly enough credit is Derrick Nnadi. The imposing defensive tackle was a silent assassin in Kansas City on their way to the Super Bowl and he has grown in stature during the first half of the current campaign.

Nnadi’s size makes him incredibly difficult to move off the block. His stout presence in run support is a pivotal component to his overall success and this is matched by ruthless aggression that makes him a nightmare for interior offensive linemen on almost every down.

The former Florida State standout is a former teammate of Brian Burns, the Carolina Panthers’ supreme edge rusher who has been a revelation in his sophomore campaign. There should be no surprises where either player is concerned and Nnadi’s importance might increase with Frank Clark’s status in question after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Carolina’s protection at guard – especially from Chris Reed – has become more of a concern during their three-game losing run. Things won’t get any easier against Nnadi, who is a force to be reckoned with if the player builds up an early head of steam.

Preventing Nnadi from making a splash should be one of their top priorities. If they fail to cope with his commanding presence, it is going to have a detrimental impact on their chances of pulling off a major upset.
