Which Carolina Panthers players disappointed at the Chiefs?

Going to such an established team such as the Kansas City Chiefs is never easy. They are as complete a football team as you’ll find anywhere in the NFL and the Carolina Panthers can be hugely encouraged by their performance against the defending Super Bowl champions despite falling to a 33-31 defeat.

Nothing much was expected of the Carolina Panthers going into the game. This took some of the pressure off and allowed them to get creative during an exceptional start that saw them 14-3 up at one stage. They were bold in fourth-and-short situations and even managed to pull off another successful fake punt attempt when Joseph Charlton connected with wide receiver Brandon Zylstra for a 28-yard gain.

Moral victories are all well and good. But the NFL is a results business.

Nobody will know that more than Matt Rhule, who was keen to state as much during his post-game press conference. The Panthers have been competitive in every game they’ve played in 2020, which is remarkable given the big changes made across the board and a 3-6 record could look far different had they been able to turn some close losses into victories.

Once they figure this out, Carolina will be a force.

Until then, the Panthers must continue to develop and hope those members of the roster who are struggling in the face of high-class opposition can raise their respective games in the coming weeks.

Let’s take a look at four Panthers players who turned in disappointing performances at the Chiefs in Week 9.
