4 Panthers players who disappointed at the Chiefs in Week 9

Joey Slye – Carolina Panthers K
Joey Slye started the season in tremendous form. But with the game on the line once again, he failed to deliver when it mattered most.
Now the two final-play kicks haven’t exactly been the easiest over the last fortnight. Slye would’ve broken the NFL record had he made either of them and he’s obviously making enough in practice for the Carolina Panthers to keep giving him opportunities to do so in a competitive environment. So it is disappointing he isn’t bringing this over to in-game scenarios.
The Panthers fell just two points short of knocking off the Chiefs. Had Slye made one of the two field goals he missed during the contest, it would have made all the difference.
This is the ruthless world of kicking in the NFL. One minute you are a hot commodity and the next you’ve got people clamoring for a replacement.
It doesn’t appear as if Slye has got to that stage just yet. The second-year-pro has successfully completed 79.2 of his field-goal attempts this season and seems like a strong enough character to ensure these longer misses don’t knock his overall confidence.
That being said, with so many of Carolina’s games being decided by fine margins, they need their kicker at the top of his game more than ever.
