Houston Texans

Although the Houston Texans have a franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson, the former first-round pick needs some better weapons around him after trading away their stud wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

They do have Will Fuller, who has played well when healthy this season, with Brandin Cooks also showing flashes of brilliance during stages of the campaign. However, getting someone in who can help all over the field offensively is going to be a key component to changing around their fortunes in 2021.

Another problem facing the Texans is their lack of top-end NFL Draft picks. They are without a selection in the first two rounds and this only heightens the need for Houston to be prominent players in the free-agent market.

Curtis Samuel would be a prolific weapon that could provide Watson with a spark that’s been missing for long periods of the season. His ability to gain valuable yardage out of the backfield is something else that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially as David Johnson might not be around by the time competitive action rolls around next year.

This would be dependent on what sort of move Houston makes at head coach and general manager. But it’s hard to look at their current predicament and say that Samuel wouldn’t help them significantly.
