Carolina Panthers vs. Bucs: Prediction

This will probably be closer than many people think, which is something you could say about almost every game involving the Carolina Panthers this season. It might come down to the wire once again but it’s hard to have faith in the home team down the stretch given their recent struggles to get it done.

It’ll have to come good at some stage, right?

All the pressure is on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. A loss at the Panthers would see those media outlets who support the perennial Super Bowl winner no matter what re-examining their stance about Tampa Bay’s overall ambitions to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy once again.

Carolina will be banking on Brian Burns and Jeremy Chinn hopefully proving their fitness in time for the game. The defensive end was limited in practice this week and it would be a cataclysmic blow if he wasn’t at 100 percent.

The Panthers do a good job of keeping receivers in front of them. But just how they’re going to cover everybody at Brady’s disposal could be the difference between winning and losing.

Prediction: Carolina Panthers 21, Buccaneers 24.

If you don’t think this game will be decided by fine margins, then you haven’t watched much of the Panthers this season. One of these days they are going to put it all together and take a notable scalp. But given what is on the line for the Bucs, their urgency might make all the difference in a tight affair.
