The Carolina Panthers will cover the spread, again.

Allow me to borrow a bold prediction I made (and nailed) last week. Predicting that a feisty Carolina Panthers team would cover a 10.5-point margin of victory was easy, but calling it again against a tough and ticked off Buccaneers team who are 5.5-point favorites is a lot tougher.

History is absolutely not on my side, as the last time these two teams played, the Buccaneers won by two touchdowns.

The narrative around this game that the Bucs will be playing angry is well-founded. But no one seems to be considering that the Panthers will be doing exactly the same.

It’s been more than a month since Carolina won a game and that’s an eternity for a very prideful ball club. Add that to the fact that they’ve only won a single home game this season and there’s a strong argument that the Panthers are much more hungry than Tampa Bay.

Even with the absence of Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers are a much better and tougher team than they were in Week 2. At this juncture, Tampa Bay is an insanely talented, but inconsistent team trying to prove they belong among the NFC’s elite. Oh, and this could be a trap game for the Buccaneers who may be looking ahead to their Monday Night date with the Los Angeles Rams.
