4 players the Panthers need to gameplan better for in Week 10
By Dean Jones
Devin White – LB
Devin White has quickly emerged into one of the NFL’s hottest middle linebackers. He is a force to be reckoned with at the second level and has a rare ability to make big plays consistently.
This is the heartbeat of any good defense. One only has to look at how much the Carolina Panthers are missing perennial All-Pro Luke Kuechly to see that.
White might not be on Kuechly’s level just yet. But he does appear well on the way to accomplishing great things. The former No. 5 overall pick was a menace for the Bucs in their first game against the Panthers on his way to 15 combined tackles, 11 solo tackles, one quarterback hit, one pass defended, and one tackle for loss, making things extremely difficult for Carolina to run the ball in the process.
Not having Christian McCaffrey in the lineup due to a shoulder injury is a bitter blow for the Panthers. Mike Davis showed plenty of promise during his initial few games as a starter and even though his production has dipped since he will get another chance to gain some valuable yards on the ground and keep the Bucs’ defense honest.
However, that might be easier said than done with White awaiting him.
