Antoine Winfield Jr. – S

Antoine Winfield Jr. has made a considerable impact in a short space of time. There was a lot of intrigue in the rookie coming out of Minnesota and the Buccaneers look to have struck gold with their second-round pick if his exploits this season are any indication.

Winfield comes from a footballing background that’s obviously served him well. He is the son of former Minnesota Vikings standout, Antoine Winfield Sr. and it already appears as if he’s picked up picks of the trade from his old man.

The safety had a home debut to remember against the Carolina Panthers earlier this season, recording 11 combined tackles, eight solo tackles, one sack, and one quarterback hit. Winfield anticipates the game extremely well for someone so young and his influence needs to be kept to a minimum to stand any chance of victory.

Carolina has some exceptional weapons in the passing game who look more in a rhythm now than they did in Week 2. The onus will be on quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to know where Winfield is at all times before distributing the football and if he doesn’t, then the youngster has already proven his worth in terms of making big plays when it matters most.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree where Winfield is concerned, that’s for sure.
