Which 2021 free agents should be on the Carolina Panthers’ wish list?

This is the time of year where the Carolina Panthers will undoubtedly be making plans to strengthen their chances in 2021. We are now more than halfway through the 2020 season and although where they’re currently at leaves plenty of reasons to be encouraged, it’s clear they are some way off being considered as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Another pivotal offseason period awaits the Carolina Panthers in 2021. They are set to have more money available to spend in free agency that should grow by relieving themselves of some contracts that simply aren’t worth the money at this juncture. There are also some eye-catching prospects entering the league from the college system who could make an immediate contribution.

How they perform between now and the end of the campaign will determine whether Carolina becomes an attractive destination. But in head coach Matt Rhule they have someone in command who has the respect of the locker room and is the right man for the job in no uncertain terms.

Adding some established players could see the Panthers enter the postseason discussion as early as next season if they get things right. Here are six individuals who should be on their wish list.

The Panthers may need a revamp of their interior protection next spring. John Miller is out of contract and the level of production Chris Reed has showcased in recent weeks leave it highly doubtful he’ll be kept around for anything longer than this season.

Joe Thuney has been a key component in the New England Patriots’ success in recent years. However, the guard might decide to take his chances elsewhere given the direction Bill Belichick’s men seem to be going in.

This would be an instant upgrade on anything Carolina currently has at their disposal and providing he isn’t asking for a substantial financial commitment, it is well worth exploring.
