LOS ANGELES CHARGERS. 3. Scouting Report. LB. DENZELPERRYMAN. player. 13. Pick Analysis

Denzel Perryman – LB

Finding a long-term solution to the inside linebacker position should be a top priority for the Carolina Panthers this offseason. Luke Kuechly’s shock retirement has been a devastating blow that might take some time to recover from and the free-agent signing of Tahir Whitehead has been a bust, to put it mildly.

Denzel Perryman is enjoying a phenomenal campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers and if he eventually reaches free agency, the offers should be pouring in for a player who is only just entering his prime.

Perryman has only started two games for the Chargers in 2020. This seems like a real slight on his talent, especially with the effort and accomplishment he’s displaying on the field.

A chance of a more prominent starting role elsewhere is an option the player would undoubtedly consider at this stage of his career and the Panthers could offer him this in addition to some financial security in the process.

The former second-round pick might be a little undersized to a stereotypical inside linebacker, but he plays like a giant on the field. This is further reflected in his exceptional 89.8 grade from Pro Football Focus for his efforts so far and it would be a significant shot in the arm for Carolina if they could bring someone in with Perryman’s quality.
