Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT

This is the period of the season where the Carolina Panthers need to see more from Derrick Brown. The No. 7 overall pick has shown flashes of what he is capable of so far, but now is the time for the defensive tackle to make his presence felt more prominently.

Brown has done well in the face of some stern competition.

He has been without the benefit of Kawann Short alongside him due to an injury that has seen more attention come his way from opposing protection schemes, which hasn’t exactly aided his transition to the next level.

That being said, when everything clicks for Brown on any given down, his dominance is there for all to see. This hasn’t resulted in much pressure in the backfield but the face the former Auburn sensation is coping well on the whole with constant double teams leaves plenty of reasons to be encouraged regarding his long-term prospects.

Brown has 22 combined tackles, 14 solo tackles, two passes defended, two quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, and two pressures to his names through Week 9. If the Panthers want to get a big upset over their NFC South rival then their 2020 first-round pick needs to be firing on all cylinders to not only assist in the run game but also make Tom Brady think twice about where he’s distributing the football.
