If the Carolina Panthers decided to bring someone else into the mix to provide additional depth, then they could do worse than picking up Josh Rosen from the Buccaneers’ practice squad.

It’s easy to forget that Rosen was a high first-round pick once upon a time. He might have struggled to live up to his college hype with the Miami Dolphins, but it wasn’t exactly an environment where a player could thrive and he was surplus to requirements the moment they selected Tua Tagovialoa with the fifth overall pick.

Rosen has probably learned more from working with Tom Brady at practice than he ever did in Miami.

This will stand him in good stead when he does get another chance at maybe becoming a starter and if Carolina isn’t convinced that their current options can get the job done in Teddy Bridgewater’s absence, this would undoubtedly be a low risk, high reward situation for them to consider.

If it doesn’t work out, so what?

The Panthers aren’t exactly going anywhere fast this season thanks to their five-game losing run, and this might be an opportunity Rosen jumps at given the exceptional weapons Carolina has at their disposal in the passing game that might just be tailor-made for his big arm.
