Will Grier

There will come a time when the Carolina Panthers need to see just what they have in Will Grier. Judging him by his rookie exploits hardly seems fair given the distinct lack of protection on a team that was devoid of any real confidence when his name was finally called to go under center.

While this probably leaves more questions than answers regarding Grier’s prospects as a long-term starter, it was an invaluable learning experience for the quarterback about what exactly being an NFL player involves.

Grier himself freely admits he was preparing fully or taking life seriously in a professional environment. He seems to have grown up plenty during his sophomore campaign and although it hasn’t come with any time on the field, this attitude is far more encouraging than anything the Panthers saw from the 2019 third-pick last time out.

This could be a real opportunity for Grier if Carolina is without Bridgewater for an extended period of time. Making all the right noises during practice is one thing, but for the West Virginia product to really stake a claim, he’ll have to come up with the goods in a competitive setting.

And who knows, it might just give him some added value if the Panthers shop him this offseason.
