46. 48. 23. 87. Final

Which Carolina Panthers players disappointed the most vs. the Bucs?

The Carolina Panthers won’t want to dwell on this result for too long. Their 46-23 thumping by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was another rude awakening for a team that still has a lot of work ahead of them if they want to be realistically considered as Super Bowl contenders in the not-too-distant future.

That appears further away than ever if their Week 10 performance was any indication. The Carolina Panthers capitulated in the second half after going in all-square at the break. But the writing was on the all in terms of failing to stop a dominant Tampa Bay offense that was in ruthless mood following their embarrassing loss at the Saints on Sunday Night Football.

Matt Rhule declared the defeat as “completely unacceptable” in his postgame presser. Linebacker Shaq Thompson also got after his teammates in the locker room after the game – which was his best of the season – where he told them to “take a good look in the mirror” after such a humbling reverse in front of their home fans.

Most players that suited up would class their respective contributions as disappointing. Carolina’s season is now heading on a steep downward spiral that might be difficult to steer in the right direction in their remaining six contests.

Let’s take a look at four Panthers players who disappointed the most in their loss against the Bucs.

Tahir Whitehead – Carolina Panthers LB

We won’t beat this drum for too long. But one has to wonder what Tahir Whitehead is even getting out of his time on the field at this point.

Besides the paycheck, obviously.

Whitehead’s lack of positional sense was there for all to see once again against the Buccaneers. His sluggish play and obvious lack of confidence have all-but ended his chances of a long-term stay in Carolina. However, it is something that could even jeopardize his ability to get another contract elsewhere.
