4 key Panthers matchups to watch vs. the Lions in Week 11

D.J. Moore vs. Jeff Okudah
D.J. Moore is one of the best in the business, providing he gets the necessary amount of targets to make a real difference. This is something that’s been hit and miss for the wide receiver this season due to the arrival of Robby Anderson, but there should be an excellent chance to make his presence felt against rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah.
The former Ohio State standout was projected as the NFL’s next great shutdown corner before the 2020 NFL Draft. Detroit obviously thought so and took Okudah No. 3 overall to sure up their secondary.
He has gone through his fair share of complications this season, which is not uncommon for players at the position. The step-up in class from college to the pros is especially evident in this area of the field and Okudah still has plenty of learning to do in order to reach his incredibly high ceiling.
Moore is sure to give Okudah all he can handle. His route-running has improved dramatically this season and the former Maryland sensation is a threat to score every time he touches the ball.
Much will depend on who is under center for the Carolina Panthers with Teddy Bridgewater’s status in serious question. But it’s hard not to look at this particular individual battle and not hold high hopes regarding Moore’s ability to put up some substantial numbers.
