Duron Harmon has made a big impression for the Lions after they acquired him in a trade with the New England Patriots in exchange for a late-round pick. This was a selection well spent on the outside looking in and a potential change in starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers would only enhance the player’s chances of making his presence felt.

Harmon is a three-time Super Bowl winner during his time with the Patriots and was moved for nothing more than to relieve salary cap space for a team in transition. The safety is still one of the more consistent performers you’ll find on the backend and this is further reflected by the exceptional 78.2 grade from Pro Football Focus through nine games.

The Lions are steadily improving on the defensive side of the ball. However, it wasn’t like they could get much worse after their dismal 2019 campaign.

Bringing in someone with the experience and consistency of Harmon has been a huge help, especially for a cornerback unit that has undergone big changes this offseason. The veteran has also provided leadership on and off the field that is another significant factor to his contribution that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Whether it’s Teddy Bridgewater, Will Grier, or P.J. Walker under center in Week 11. They’ll need to keep an eye on where Harmon is pre-snap on almost every down.
