Yetur Gross-Matos – Carolina Panthers DE

Yetur Gross-Matos made a return from injury last weekend against the Buccaneers and he continues this upward curve with a place in the starting lineup in Week 11. The former Penn State edge rusher made his presence felt with another performance that was littered with promise and one that will be another big confidence boost for the second-round pick.

The Carolina Panthers have struggled to generate pressure this season. But they were able to get this in abundance for the first time.

Although Gross-Matos may have only been on the field for 48 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, he made them count. He was relentless on the edge opposite stud defensive end Brian Burns and picked up another half-sack for his efforts, taking his tally to 1.5 for the 2020 season from seven games – two of which he’s started.

Gross-Matos is sure to feature heavily down the stretch for the Panthers, who will gain a significant amount from his rookie year and looks like he can make a real difference going forward.

There do appear to be some similarities with Burns’ first year in a professional environment and providing he makes the necessary improvements during the offseason, then Carolina is sure to have a real player on their hands.
