Is James Bradberry the NFL’s best CB after leaving the Panthers?
By Dean Jones
Bradberry’s production in 2020
To say James Bradberry has hit the ground running with the New York Giants would be a huge understatement. The cornerback has propelled his game to a level not seen during his time at the Carolina Panthers and it’s seen him emerge as one of the NFL’s best cover corners in the process.
Bradberry is so good at the moment that opposing teams are actively avoiding throwing the ball in his direction. He has been rock solid in press coverage and is anticipating things extremely well on the backend.
The Giants might be struggling in other areas, but that shouldn’t detract from his level of production.
The former second-round pick has given up 31 receptions from 56 targets this season on his way to a 74.2 grade from Pro Football Focus. Bradberry’s three interceptions, 14 passes defended, 32 combined tackles, 26 solo tackles, and a forced fumble is further proof of the way he’s progressed since leaving the Panthers.
There aren’t many cornerbacks in the NFL who can rise to the level Bradberry is performing at the moment. His play has justified the three-year, $43.5 million deal with a $31.98 million signing bonus given to him by the Giants this offseason and there should be plenty more to come as the Samford product enters his prime.
