Bold predictions for the Carolina Panthers at the Vikings in Week 12.

The Carolina Panthers followed up their worst performance of the season in Week 10 with their best in Week 11. This week, we’ll find out if they can put up another impressive performance on the road before heading into a well-earned Week 13 bye.

This week’s opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, sprung back into playoff contention after an abysmal 1-5 record. Much like the Carolina Panthers, the team from the North Star state is too well-coached and talented to give up on their season. In fact, the two t eams mirror each other in several ways.

Both teams have serviceable, but limited, starting quarterbacks.

Both have Pro Bowl running backs who each have a case of best in the NFL when healthy, depending on who you ask.

They also have two highly talented wide receivers that are considered “1A and 1B”. And both teams are ranked in the bottom half of the league in several defensive categories.

However, it should be noted that the Panthers are ranked higher in total yards allowed, passing and rushing yards allowed, and points allowed per game.

The leader of the Panthers’ defense has been second-year defensive end Brian Burns and the NFL has taken notice. After one week of Pro Bowl voting, the stud pass-rusher has the most votes among NFC defensive ends.

History shows it’s tough for players to make the Pro Bowl if their team isn’t winning so if the voting stands, it will be a huge feat for the young edge rusher. Here are three bold predictions for Sunday’s game against the Vikings in Minnesota.
