No. 111: Baron Browning – LB (Ohio State)
Baron Browning fits the mold of the sort of player that the Carolina Panthers are looking for. He is fast, physical, and looks to have the scope to improve in the future. The Ohio State Buckeye has all the physical attributes needed to make a real go of things at the next level and providing he is handled in the right way, the player might end up being the long-term replacement for Luke Kuechly at the second level.
While it would be unrealistic for any college recruit to replicate the level of production Browning gave the organization during a glittering eight-year career. There are some doubts as to just why he’s been used so sparingly during his time in college, but the prospect looks well worth selecting at this juncture and might end up being a steal.
No. 150: T.J. Carter – CB (Memphis)
The Panthers have gotten some outstanding production overall from their cornerback unit, but they do need someone a little bit better at man coverage to really take this group to the next level. T.J. Carter has been utilized basically on an island all by himself at Memphis and has thrived for the most part despite this being a pretty big responsibility.
Carter does his best work in press coverage situations, which is something Carolina hasn’t used a significant amount this season. His production dips somewhat in schemes that require more cushion. But if the Panthers added him to a group that includes Donte Jackson and Rasul Douglas, it would be a tremendous asset to call upon.
