How Teddy Bridgewater could re-join the Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater returning to the Vikings will not happen in the immediate future. But the stars could very well align regarding the possibility in the coming years.

The Carolina Panthers have Bridgewater under contract until 2023, which is the same time Kirk Cousins becomes a free-agent in Minnesota. This will ensure there is plenty of speculation regarding a potential move for the player back to the team that drafted him out of Louisville.

Who knows? It might happen before then.

If things don’t work out between the Panthers and Bridgewater, they do have an out regarding his deal in 2022 that would save them around $21 million in salary-cap space if they chose to go in a different direction. The Vikings might also decide to do the same with Cousins and his whopping $45 million on their cap in 2022, which would represent a saving of $35 million if both parties went their separate ways.

There is a lot of football to be played between now and then. But there are too many similarities in quarterback situations with both teams for it not to be talked about.

It would be a surprise if contingency plans weren’t already being thought about from all sides. And stranger things have happened in the NFL.
